Chesapeake Manor Assisted Living is a family-owned and operated brother and sister team, having transferred their learning experiences from caring for their own grandparents, then to care for others’ grandparents. Through these events, Steven Bloyd and Pam Schaffer discovered their deep commitment and passion to care for seniors.

Today, with over 20 years of skilled experience caring for the elderly, they are realizing their dreams of providing excellent care in an elegant environment at Chesapeake Manor. Steven and Pam would like to invite you to visit this spectacular home and find out more about all the wonderful things happening at Chesapeake Manor Assisted Living.

Our Facility’s Rich History

Chesapeake Manor Assisted Living was originally the private residence of Lula B. and Paul F. Richardson. Since the 1970’s the Richardsons enjoyed many years here in the home’s peaceful, natural setting. Mrs. Richardson’s love of gardening can be seen everywhere as the seasons change and splashes of color paint the grounds with blooming flowers and beautiful shrubs.

Lula Richardson was a loved elementary school teacher in Wicomico County for many years, beginning her career in the Green Branch one-room school north of Willards.

Mr. Richardson was a businessman and also partnered with his brother Devner in the P & D Richardson Lumber Mill, now Cropper Bros. Lumber Co. here in Willards.

Our Community

We’re tucked away in Willards, Maryland, a small town in Wicomico County. This unique location gives residents a tranquil place to relax and enjoy their favorite activities. Chesapeake Manor is also within easy driving distance of several cities, ensuring loved ones can visit as often as possible.

Because Chesapeake Manor used to be a private residence, it has 16 well-appointed suites with everything residents need to stay comfortable. The manor is truly a home, so it’s not unusual to see residents relaxing in the living room or enjoying one of our patio and garden areas.

Our Staff

We proudly maintain a 1:6 staff-to-resident ratio. Someone is always available to answer questions and provide assistance, ensuring residents stay safe. We also have an on-call nurse available to handle medical issues as they arise.

What to Expect as a Resident

Chesapeake Manor offers four levels of care, ensuring every resident receives the right level of assistance. Assisted living is ideal for residents who are independent and just need help with activities of daily living. We also provide a safe environment for residents who have dementia, require end-of-life care or need a place to stay when their primary caregivers are unavailable.

Staff members take pride in serving appetizing meals that are tailored to each person’s nutritional needs. Chesapeake Manor also maintains an active calendar of events, giving residents many opportunities to socialize and stay engaged, active and stimulated.

At Chesapeake Manor, every resident has access to the following:

  • Medication administration
  • Care coordination
  • Housekeeping services
  • Laundry services
  • Bathrooms with safety features
  • Basic utilities
